Thank you to the Newport Harbor Sailing Foundation for helping me to compete in the ILCA US Championships in Corpus Christi, Texas May 23-25, 2026. This was the first time I have traveled out of my home state to complete in a championship regatta. The ILCA 4 is a youth pathway to gain skills sailing in an olympic class boat. This event also allowed me to collect Grand Prix points which will help me in my goal to qualify for an ILCA 4 World event in the future. The regatta was very eventful with heavy winds and severe thunderstorms which led to the race committee calling us in twice due to lightening in the area. Due to the weather, we were only able to sail one race the first day. This regatta allowed me to meet people from all across the county and to gain experience sailing in a new venue. Due to the support from the Newport Harbor Sailing Foundation, I have gained experience that will help me to become a better sailor. I cannot wait for my next travel regatta opportunity!
